Character
Name: Legolas
Canon: Tolkien, Lord of the Rings
AU: Born and raised as female, Kili and Fili survive BOFA and Fili becomes the ruler of Erebor. Later on it's Kili who joins the Fellowship.
Pull-point: After Aragorn's wedding to Arwen.
Age: ~800+, but she looks between 25-27!
Gender/Sex: Female on both accounts!
Appearance: She's 170cm tall, with beautiful hair like elves are wont to have, long, straight and the colour of pale gold, often braided so it doesn't get into her eyes. Which are grey-blue and very bright. She's quick to smile, and naturally as an elf her ears are pointy / leaf shaped. As all elves, she's beautiful beyond the imagining of the Men. PB used will be Claire Danes from the movie Stardust.
History: For the most part Legolas's back story follows the book canon line, with a few differences: she was born and raised as female, and during the Battle of Five Armies, both Fili and Kili survived to become the rulers of Erebor. She did not capture the dwarves in Mirkwood, though she did take part in the Battle itself, later on she was among the envoys sent to Erebor from Mirkwood. There already she has grown to know Kili just a little bit, and with Fili as the ruler the relationship between the two realms wasn't nearly as strained.
Like in canon, sixty years later, she was sent as an envoy to Elrond to report of Gollum's escape, where later she was chosen to become a part of the Fellowship of the Ring as the representative of the elves, together with the four Hobbits, Frodo the Ring bearer, Sam, Merry and Pippin, the two Men Aragorn and Boromir, the Wizard Gandalf and the Dwarf Kili.
From then on the adventures were about the same as in the novels: the failed attempt at passage through Caradhras, the passage through Moria and finding out Balin has been slain, Gandalf facing the Balrog and for all they knew perishing to him, their stay at Lothlorien, and the death of Boromir not long after they went on to continue their journey. Like in the novels they have been split, Frodo and Sam headed to Mordor alone, while Merry and Pippin were kidnapped by Saruman's Uruk-hai. The Three Hunters then are Aragorn, Legolas and Kili as they chase after their enemies and friends.
Personality: She's very good natured, with a cheerful disposition, prone to teasing and everything playful. She can be blunt and very straightforward, unintentionally rude and patronising as is kind of the way of the elves, but she can be wholly respectful towards those who deserve it just as well. Though she's not incapable of seriousness when the situation calls for it, such as battle, where she is ruthless against orcs as she needs to be, or for official functions where she's to be the princess she is. She is strong willed, and brave, though not to the point of madness. The responsibilities placed on her she does her best to carry out to their fullest. She's fiercely protective of her family and friends, and she does not at all take lightly to insults towards them, or threats. Curious about all in the world, her greatest love are the trees and forests.
Abilities: She's an elf, therefore she's immortal, however she is not invincible. She can be slain by the sword or poison, however it's awfully difficult to do so, so hardy are the elves! Age will not touch her anymore, and she'll remain looking ever young. Stronger and swifter than the Men, she also possesses enhanced senses compared to them. She can speak with nature, in a way, and understand it what it says back. She's an accomplished archer, second after Beleg in all of Middle Earth. She doesn't need to sleep, though she does rest in the way of the elves, she doesn't need as much nourishment as Men, and lastly, she's likely capable of putting people to sleep, being of Mirkwood upbringing where all elves were said to possess this ability.
Inventory:
- her bow of the Galadhrim, and the quiver,
- long knife from Mirkwood.
Anything else: I'm using "ruler" for Fili because I haven't decided yet if it's going to be an AU with him born as female as well or not.
